Headsetty

and AR glassy. Osaka!

Hello everyone. I am doing an event in Ann Arbor, Michigan on November 27. The event is sponsored by One Million Cups. Although I have done many AR-themed presentations, this will be the first time I talk about my business plans. Last month I set up a LLC called… maith.

This issue is kinda headsetty.

Apple Vision Pro. They made 600,000 units. Probably all will be sold. Next!

Oh... I wish I had timestamped this thought, which occurred to me immediately when I first saw the AVP. The “front eyes” feature is/was an expensive waste of time/resouces. I strongly doubt it will survive. Dropping that nonsense will immediately knock off maybe $1K to the next generation’s unit cost and make it lighter. I have likely read every public English language review of the AVP. Sat in an Apple Store three times, watching responses to the AVP. The front eyes feature? Really, not mentioned by anyone including the Apple Store staff. First time I wrote about the Vision Pro was here.

ARC Center at Oakland University, near Detroit. Recently attended an excellent event which exposed me to the industrial side of AR.

Netflix and bookmark: Now you can send a scene that made you LOL to someone right from your phone. On the Netflix app, tap the new Moments button at the bottom, and the scene will be saved in your My Netflix tab. Share them with your friends through text, email or social media. (FWIW, I do not have Netflix. But this is interesting.)

JnO. Japan no Orbit is the name of the newsletter I just started. The header of this issue is the result of typing “Japan no Orbit” into Adobe Firefly. JnO will likely be more of a personal Japan-themed art and writing journal than a travel guide, but who knows? Definitely a way to showcase my photography. Don’t subscribe to JnO right now unless you are one of those people who like walking into a new gallery that stills smells like white paint, and has the art on the floor, waiting to be hung. FWIW, there is a world expo in Osaka next year.

Strange that the above link does not become magical so that you can just click on it. You have to copy and paste that to read about how Meta treats you posts and WhatsApp messages.

Apr 26, 2024 — 8 augmented reality workshops and online courses, designed to give you the skills you need to start creating experiences that wow! (I checked the link. Still works and offers value.)

The following link makes it certain that Insta will be downgrading the video quality of little seen videos. But I thought I saw something somewhere that Youtube will be doing the same…?

The following people are much more consistent than I am…
